About Drumduan

Established in1989, Drumduan School is an independent, modern and progressive Steiner School located in the beautiful north-east coast of Scotland. It offers a comprehensive, uniquely child-centred curriculum from Kindergarten to Class 12, in an unhurried, supportive and creative environment. Lessons include a balance of artistic, practical and academic content, immersed in nature, which allows our students to develop a deep understanding of their inter connectedness with it.

At Drumduan, children find the joy in learning and experience the richness of childhood while being fully prepared for the future, academically, emotionally and physically.  Each student is recognized for his or her unique gifts and capabilities and nurtured in an environment where their value is celebrated, not measured.

Encouraging each of our students to feel a true sense of worth and self-confidence is at the heart of our teaching.

Our Site

Drumduan School sits on a hill behind the town of Forres. Driving out of town and up into the school, you enter our magical wooded campus on Cluny Hill. If you take the first left you emerge out into the Upper School grounds, which have an incredibly open view over Forres and across Findhorn Bay, all the way into the Moray Firth.

The Lower School is further down the driveway. Surrounded by magnificent old trees and spacious grounds, there are dens, bushes and wonderful play areas all around. Our outdoor amphitheatre holds our whole school festivals easily, and there are two outdoor classrooms providing shelter for lessons, crafts and festivals. We have raised beds and cultivated areas for gardening lessons, plus a pond and a tree nursery. Parents are welcome to join the gardening club each Friday and their support is greatly appreciated in tending the large site.
