Apple Pruning Workshop

Your guide to perfect pruning

  • 20 British pounds
  • Location 1

Service Description

Martin Allen will show you how to create the optimal prune for your own apple trees using the example of those currently growing in the grounds Drumduan School. The workshop will focus on the practical aspects of winter pruning, but participants will also learn about wider aspects of organic growing and plant care.  Martin is a local self-employed gardener. He moved to the area 10 years ago to work in the walled garden at Newbold House. The garden housed a heritage orchard containing over 70 trees. Since then, he has broadened his knowledge, studying at the Royal Botanic Gardens in Edinburgh and continues to learn and share his knowledge through his freelance gardening role, working in both private and formal public gardens, and educating both children and adults. Equipment: please bring gardening gloves, secateurs / pruning saw (if you have them?). If not, there will be a limited number available to borrow. Clothing: please wear stout shoes / boots and warm clothes. A waterproof jacket may be needed.
