A TYPICAL DAY

Below is an example of a typical day for a student in Class 5/6.  From the initial greeting in the morning where students greet the teachers with a handshake, to the overall flow of the day, learn more about a typical day at Drumduan.

  • 8:45 AM - Students arrive, greet the class teacher with a handshake, catch up briefly with friends before individual reading for 10 minutes.

  • 9:00 AM - Rhythmic time: a candle is lit on the nature table, the class speak the morning verse together, the class work on learning their poem and song for the week relating to the Main Lesson topic.   Time for any class announcements or sharing of news. 
     

  • 9:15 AM - 9:30 AM -  the class go outside for 15 minutes of movement led by our Bothmer teacher
     

  • 9:30 AM - 9:35 AM - Toilet/drink break 
     

  • 9:35 AM - The class work on their recorder piece for the week; the children are learning both soprano and alto recorders, and we often play in rounds or duets. 
     

  • 9:45 - Main Lesson work: Activities (often outside), the arts and written work are all woven into these lessons. 
     

  • 10:45 AM -11:15 AM - Break 
     

  • 11:15 AM - 12:45 PM - Subject Lessons

  • 12:45 PM - 1:30 PM - Lunch

  • 1:30 PM - 3:00 PM - Subject Lessons

 

  • 3:00 PM - School finishes
